SCTA Requests District Own Up To Budget Mistake and Follow Through On Tony Thurmond Meeting

SHARE

In a letter sent this afternoon to Superintendent Jorge Aguilar, SCTA urged him and board president Jessie Ryan to accept responsibility for creating a climate of panic regarding an imminent state takeover that evaporated after the District discovered a huge budget mistake.

Unfortunately, rather than own up to the mistake, the District appears to have responded by attempting to create a “new crisis” by doubling the amount of the District’s projected reserve from 2% to 4%, thereby removing $11.7 million in resources that could go directly to students.

You can read the letter here.
