The Sacramento City Teachers Association represents most certificated educators including: Teachers, School Nurses, Counselors, School Social Workers, Psychologists, Librarians, Substitute Teachers and more. For a complete list of all unit members represented see Article 1.1 here.

Becoming a full member of SCTA enables you to have a real voice in our organization, including the election of officers, and the approval of our contract with the School District, which determines our wages, benefits and working conditions. It also enables you to access enhanced benefits through NEA and CTA including a professional liability plan, a life insurance benefit, and a group legal services plan with access to consultations with an attorney, for both professional and non-job related subjects.

• If you were previously a member in another district you must fill out a new membership form to become a member with this local chapter. Your previous membership ended when you stopped paying dues through your old employer.

FAQ about the online membership form:

• If you get stuck on something, please take a screen shot and include it in an email to scta@saccityta.com
• The starting page of membership form has links to separate forms for employees of San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco, please ignore those links and enter your personal email in the box located at the bottom of the page.
• Contact info: use your personal email (DO NOT use the employer owned district email)
• CTA Membership Category: Subs and per diem should select – Category 3A (Part-Time 25% or less). Everyone else, select by your FTE%. For 2025-26 the Sub/per diem dues are $66.18 monthly and are deducted from 10/15 – 7/15 paychecks. If you don’t get paid on any given month you won’t pay dues. The 2025-26 Dues for .61-Full-time contracted teachers are $143.70 and deducted from 9/30 – 6/30 paychecks. Dues are deducted 10 times per year a.k.a. tenthly.
