SCTA Scholarships 2024-25
The Sacramento Teachers Association will be awarding the following scholarships to deserving graduating seniors. Please read the requirements for each scholarship.
SCTA Book Awards – $500 (up to 10 awards)
Scholarships to help students with the cost of books and materials.
Minimum GPA 2.0
SCTA Scholarship — $2,000 (up to 5 awards)
Based on academic excellence, leadership and community service.
Minimum GPA 3.0
SCTA Most Improved Scholarship — $2,000 (Up to 5 awards)
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated significant academic improvement over the course of their high school career.
Minimum GPA 2.5
SCTA-Retired Future Educator Scholarship — (Up to 3 awards) $500
Awarded to a high school student who aspires to become a teacher. In order to be considered for this scholarship you must include why you want to be a teacher in your essay. (This Scholarship has been funded from donations by Sacramento Area Retired Teachers).
Minimum GPA 2.0
SCTA-Retired Future Educator - Gloria Fong Memorial Scholarship — (Up to 1 award) $500
This scholarship is in honor of Gloria Fong who worked as an office manager at William Land Elementary School for 27 years. Her daughter Natalie Bazett taught a total of 36 years at Luther Burbank High School, Clayton B. Wire Elementary and Pacific Elementary School. Gloria efficiently managed the office by assisting the administrator and performing a variety of duties. Being fluent in Cantonese and English benefited the school community. This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a future educator.

Minimum GPA 2.0
Special Scholar Scholarship – $500 (up to 2 awards)
In order to be considered for this scholarship, the student MUST have an active IEP. This scholarship is to help students with special needs fund books, materials, training etc. for career preparation
2025 Essay Question
What challenges or obstacles have you dealt with and overcome in life and how will this scholarship help you succeed in college and beyond. Describe how volunteer, community service or extra-curricular activities have shaped who you are today and what it has taught you. Please also include future educational plans and career goals.
(500 words or less, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins, saved as pdf)
Applicants should have a strong academic record, demonstrate need, have defined goals, have participated in various activities and fulfill the following requirements:
1. Senior graduating from a SCUSD high school during the 2024-25 school year.
2. At least one year enrollment at present school.
3. If Scholarship is awarded, student must provide proof of registration in at least 12 units of class work at any two or four year accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent vocational program in the fall or spring following high school graduation.
- Students with a parent who is a member of SCTA receive additional consideration.
- Students may begin applying on Friday, March 21, 2025.
- The deadline to apply is Monday, April 21, 2025 by 4:30 p.m.
- This deadline is absolute, and no late or incomplete applications or documents will be considered.
Applicants must include the following documents with their scholarship application:
- Transcripts (downloaded from infinite campus)
- Photo of yourself (preferred formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .png)
- Essay (500 words or less, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins, saved as .pdf)
