SCUSD Teacher Salaries Lag Behind State and Regional Average

A recent article by Philip Reese in the Sacramento Bee demonstrates that teacher salaries in Sacramento lag behind the statewide average. Comparing the most recent data available, the statewide average teacher salary is $82,746. The average salary in Sac City is $75,296 or 9.9% lower than the statewide average.

With this data, as well as the difficulty Sac City has in recruiting and retaining staff who reflect the diversity of our district, we can’t understand why Superintedent Aguilar and Board President Ryan are now demanding massive pay cuts from Sac City teachers.
