Educators, Parents and Community Join in Effort to Remake Sac City into THE Destination District
On Tuesday, September 20th, educators, parents and community stakeholders gathered for a town hall discussion on how to remake Sac City into THE Destination District for California.
Participants included School Board member-elect Mai Vang, Sacramento Mayor-elect Darrell Steinberg, the Sacramento City Teachers Association, the Black Parallel School Board, Sacramento Area Congregations Together (ACT), the Community Priorities Coalition, the Sacramento Central Labor Council and representatives from several other organizations. There was consensus that with the District being in the best financial position in its history, with more than $56 million in reserves, there was a tremendous opportunity to make significant improvement in our school district.
