Board Warnings Related to SPARK Coming True

On August 31, 2016, SCTA filed an unfair labor practice (ULP) against the District regarding its top-down implementation of SPARK.  In the video below, SCTA president Nikki Milevsky explains that SCTA strongly supports restorative practices, but has serious concerns regarding how Chief Equity Officer Doug Huscher has implemented SPARK.  Also included in the video are predictions from back in April by several members of the school board that the effort would fail without teacher input and support (beginning at 4:07 in the video).

The video closes (beginning at 5:46) with Doug Huscher promising–in response to board concerns–that SPARK’s implementation would be inclusive and collaborative–neither of which are true, and which led to the filing of the ULP.
