Over 1000 Educators Rally at School Board
Let’s Make Sac City the Destination District!
Over 1000 educators rallied prior to the March 16th meeting of the Sac City Board of Education to urge that President Jay Hansen and other board members put students first! Supporters are also encouraged to join the online petition here to email the board directly to encourage the board to invest in our schools.
Board members were challenged to explain why the District is willing to pay outgoing Superintendent Banda $338,209.73 in total compensation and pay to have his transmission fixed, but won’t reduce class sizes, improve special education, give every student the opportunity to take an art or music class, or even ensure every classroom has a certificated teacher.
The District currently has over $98 million in its reserve fund, 10 times higher than recommended by the state.
