SCTA met with a representative of the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) yesterday. As previously reported, SCOE has decided to insert itself into the bargaining process by demanding that SCTA and the District drastically alter the terms of our conceptual agreement. At yesterday’s meeting SCTA sent a very clear message that we do not believe SCOE has the authority to alter the bargaining process and, in essence, impose language. SCTA leadership is looking at all options to try and defend the SCTA contract and benefits from this attack from SCOE. We will keep you informed.
Assignments are covered in Article 7 of the SCTA contract. Section 7.1 defines assignment as the classes a teacher is assigned to teach. Section 7.1.2 says “An assignment change is a change in grade, class or department”.
It has been reported by Site Representatives that some principals are asking teachers to sign a document discussing the possibility of change of assignment for next school year. If you have been asked to sign a form that suggests you might be moved to a different grade next year-Don’t Sign!
