Professional Development

Professional learning is an issue of great importance to teachers in the Sacramento City Unified School District.  Recently we were successful in ending a long-standing, but controversial practice in the District, which concentrated professional learning for math and ELA in centralized training, which required teachers to be pulled out of the class room for as many as eleven days per year.

We are now working with the District to develop a more comprehensive, useful and teacher-driven professional learning program beginning with this school year (2015-16), but also looking more long term.

In the meantime, Sac City teachers are now part of CTA’s Instructional Leadership Corp (for more information click here) and continue to move forward with professional learning opportunities created by Sac City teachers.

CTA also have a great deal of information regarding professional learning, which can be accessed by clicking here.
